Celebration of Love at The Ormsby

We have been feeling the love at The Ormsby, with residents Gavin and Fiona recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They have shared with us a little about how their love story came to be.

Fiona actually met Gavin’s parents on a cruise in 1956 before being introduced to Gavin shortly after… We think there was some matchmaking involved in their meeting.

At the time, Fiona was a nurse in Mackay QLD, and Gavin worked for the NSW Court Department. Fiona moved to Sydney to do a nursing course in 1960, and they were soon engaged then later married on January 21st 1961, in the Chapel at Barker College, where Gavin previously attended school. Gavin continued on as a Clerk of the Court at Walcha, NSW.

To celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary, their grandson Jahan came in and played his harp for them. It was a magical moment that filled our home with love.

To add to this beautiful celebration of love, they got a letter of congratulations from the Queen herself, much to their delight.
