Residents take the stage for nativity play
The curtains went up on a special performance at Cazna Gardens aged care home last week when residents took to the stage for their own Christmas nativity play production.
Residents from the home’s Bible group have been preparing for months for the show with rehearsals every Sunday.
For narrator and resident Bobbie Williams it was a much-anticipated stage debut.
“I got involved because I love being busy and being part of my community,” she said.
“I was a Registered Nurse specialising in neuroscience for many years, and a mother and I still volunteer monthly at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Museum and attend meetings with other groups I’ve always been involved in.
“For this show I practised the script every night – I am in the role of narrator, so I have the most lines!
“It was so exciting having the family come to watch!”
Cazna Gardens Care Champion Rebecca Downey said the Cazna Gardens team, family and friends all enjoyed the show, which was a great success.
“It’s been fun seeing things coming together,” she said. “There have been things we’ve had to adapt but we pride ourselves here at Cazna on adapting and improvising to create unforgettable events.
“Most of all we wanted to showcase the skills and talents of residents and show age has no barriers.”
The play was part of a special program of events across the home in the approach to Christmas.
