Our McKenzie People: Christina, Lifestyle Coordinator

10/03/2022

Hi, my name is Christina and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator for two and a half years at Bribie Cove.

I never planned on being a Lifestyle Coordinator. My path was assisting aged care residents with rehabilitation as a Physio Aide. It was while I was working for another company that quite a few of my residents stated that I had a knack for making exercise fun – and from there, I started filling in as a Lifestyle Assistant.

After a few months, I began studying my Certificate IV in Leisure and Health and I began to really enjoy making a difference in the day-to-day lives of aged care residents. I had finished my qualification and this is where my journey as a Lifestyle Coordinator started.

For me, a day as a Lifestyle Coordinator is bringing joy and laughter to my residents.

I began this career to make a difference in their lives. I believed that there was more life to be lived, and even though people were residing in an aged care home, it did not mean they had to stop living a meaningful life with purpose. This is what being a Lifestyle Coordinator means to me. It isn’t just about the clinical care, but also about the life everyone gets to live.

I come up with my amazing ideas by just trying something new, taking suggestions and feedback from my residents or by networking with fellow Lifestyle Coordinators from around the world on social media.

I am all about living a meaningful and full life with purpose and having a lot of fun and laughter along the way.
